Love Luggage Eases Transition into Foster Care

“When children are removed from their homes and placed into foster care their belongings are often placed into garbage bags. This reinforces the message that they are trash! Unknowingly, the abuse continues. Love Luggage allows every child entering foster care to have their own luggage. This communicates a different message to a child ….. you are special, you are valued and you are important. The abuse stops.”

Love Luggage is a project of the Allen Lima Leadership Class of 2006. The mission is to provide the support needed to help Allen County foster children realize they are special. Each piece of luggage includes toothpaste & toothbrush, soap & shampoo, coloring books with crayons, a stuffed animal, food coupons, reading books, puzzles and games. It is estimated that 200 bags will be needed each year with each bag costing $20. To keep the project going, $4,000 in donations will be needed each year. To make donations to Love Luggage, please send checks made out to ALL Love Luggage(tax deductible), 147 N. Main Street, Lima, Ohio 45801.
